Valerie Ng’s abstract works are created as a result of explorations in colour, light, depth, form and texture while utilizing the expressive qualities of the medium. Drawing inspiration from the natural elements, hues and shapes in the environment, the works aim to evoke an experience, sensation or atmospheric feel.
A Malaysian based in Singapore, she has exhibited at the Singapore Art Museum as well as the National Art Gallery, Malaysia. In 2018, she won the Bronze in the United Overseas Bank (UOB) Painting of the Year Competition (Singapore). Her paintings have been shortlisted in the Sovereign Asian Art Prize in Hong Kong. She has also received a Distinction in the Malaysian Art Competition, 2007 and been selected for the Young Contemporaries 2006 in Malaysia.
She has had solo exhibitions, group shows and participated in art fairs across the region. These digital artworks are an extension of her painting practice into digital art encompassing photography, digital drawing and animated videos.
